SCOTS CONFIDENT OF HALTING IRISH
by Paul Madden
Despite just one Six Nations victory to date in this campaign Scotland are confident of putting a dent in Ireland's Grand Slam hopes when the two sides meet at Murrayfield next weekend.
Ireland's hopes of securing their first Grand Slam in 61 years gathered sluggish momentum after a 14-13 win in Croke Park last weekend but the Scots believe they are in with a chance.
"I've been quite impressed with what Ireland have done so far, but if we can keep improving then there are areas there that we will look to expose," said Scottish Captain Mike Blair.
Ireland's latest victory came thanks to an outstanding display from Brian O'Driscoll who contributed a drop goal and push over try after all of his forwards had tried in vain.
England's cause wasn't helped by their continued ill discipline with both prop Phil Vickery and scrum-half Danny Care sent to the sin bin.
Ireland currently sit on top of the Six Nations table, with three wins from three games played.
There final game of the championship is away to champions Wales on 21st March and a victory over the Scots will see that game become the championship decider.
