Maurice O'Halloran
Co-Travel and Culture Editor
Maurice O’Halloran was born in the north west of Ireland In a beautiful seaside town called Moville.
From an early age he was interested in all things journalistic having watched his Mother at work and listening to her radio show.
After secondary school Maurice set off for England to attend university where he completed a B.A. in another of his passions, history, Eastern Mediterranean History to be precise!
After University Maurice returned to Ireland and then moved to Galway. He lived in Galway for a year, working, travelling and studying a T.E.F.L. course.
It was after completion of his T.E.F.L. in Alexandria, Egypt that Maurice accepted a job teaching English at a private language institute in South Korea.
It was in Korea that Maurice’s love of journalism returned. Having just arrived the North tested an atomic weapon. Maurice wasted no time making himself available to the B.B.C. to conduct an interview on the crisis.
From then until the time Maurice returned to Ireland there was only one thing that he wanted to do, enrol on the MA in journalism course and follow his belated dream of becoming a journalist!
